Concrete cracking - Day Two - The backyard concrete didn't flake & crumble like this stuff, but this was poured 53 years ago!

Concrete cracking - Day Two - showing the leverage technique I figured out how to do myself the end of Day One when I finally had enough length out to use the 5ft prybar properly

Concrete cracking - Day Two - By prying up the entire slab & supporting with scraps, the slab would crack under impact vs. the force being absorbed by the ground underneath. The funny part was that the slabs were coming up in such large chunks that I had to sit on the prybar and scoot the scraps under with my legs! Yes, my neighbors were laughing at me, but hey, I got it done! ;)

Concrete cracking - Day Two - Extra problem is prying the pieces apart when they were still stuck to the wire mesh, which often required cutting with my new lineman's cutters

Concrete cracking - Day Two - it took another 45 minutes to tackle the last section to the sidewalk since there were no existing cracks or seams! I could not lever out the entire slab, so making cracks took a LOT of sledgehammer hits before it would budge.
